How to Make Your Very Own Christmas Tree Pop-Up Card
This Cricut Pop-Up Card SVG is easy to use. With our tutorial, you’ll have a holiday-themed greeting card in no time!
Step 1: Download and Upload Your File to Your Design Program
Download your Christmas Tree Pop-Up Card SVG and upload it to your design program of choice (ie.: Design Space for Cricut and Silhouette Studio for Silhouette)
Step 2: Cut Your Design
Proceed to cutting your designs with your colored cardstock
Step 3: Start Assembling!
Begin with the base piece (For this project, it will be on gold cardstock with multiple tabs/slits, as pictured below). Fold the piece along where all the crease lines are. Add precision glue to the end to close it in a loop.
Step 4: Insert the Base Piece into the Inner Card
Now that your base piece is assembled, it’s time to insert it into the inner portion of the card (in our case, it’s the two large white pieces of cardstock). Insert each bottom tab into a slit of the white cardstock.
Step 5: Secure the Base’s Tabs
Once you’ve inserted the base piece into the white pieces of cardstock, flip each one over and fold down the bottom tab and secure with precision glue.
Step 6: Add the Inner Card to the Outer Portion of the Card
Add crafter’s tape to the back side of each inner card and secure it onto your outer card (the burgundy piece). Once all the pieces are glued and secured, fold over the card (this will help “score” the card’s spine). Open it again to continue with the assembly process.
Step 7: Assemble the Tree
To start assembling your tree, gather your cardstock pieces. Each colored cardstock has 2 tree shapes and 4 side shapes (they will act as the sides of your pop-up tree). You will want to pair each corresponding piece: so one green tree has a gold tree to be paired with (be sure the trees are the exact same shape!). For the side shapes, be sure to match the ones with the same amount of slits at the bottom.
Step 8: Glue the Matched Pieces Together
Add precision glue to the cardstock pieces and glue the grouped pieces together. The green cardstock pieces always gets glued on top of the gold cardstock piece.
Step 9: Assemble the Tree
Take the tree with the two slits at the base and slide it onto base piece that’s attached to the card (the one we assembled in the first steps). Next, take the tree with the three slits and slide it on top of the first tree.
Step 10: Insert the Additional Pieces
Take the remaining pieces and insert onto the tree accordingly, starting with the pieces with one slit on the bottom. Once those are inserted, move onto the pieces with three slits on the bottom.
Step 11: Personalize and Give to a Loved One!
Your pop-up card is now complete! Now it’s time to write a beautiful note and send it to a loved one!
