I’ve got a fun DIY for you to make with your kiddos! This homemade Jello playdough is colorful, fun, smooth, squishy! And they smell SOOO good!
A huge benefit to making your own kid-friendly activities/toys is that you know exactly what’s going into them. My Homemade Jello Playdough contains six simple ingredients – and it’s very likely you already have them in your kitchen pantry!
Take a look at my easy to follow step-by-step instructions to make a batch of your very own. The recipe yields one batch, meaning one color. If you’d like to make multiple colors/batches, be sure to repeat the recipe for each individual color.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup flour
- ¼ cup salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- 1 (3 ounce) package gelatin mix
Yields: One batch (ie. one color) of playdough
Directions:
Add all ingredients into a medium pot and whisk until blended.
Place the pot over medium heat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes. Stir mixture constantly.
Once the liquid has absorbed and the dough has come together as a ball, carefully transfer it onto waxed, freezer or parchment paper.
The dough should be warm but cool to the touch, and easy to handle with bare hands. Knead it until smooth, about 2 minutes.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two months or at room temperature for 3 days.
