Instant hot cocoa packets, are great in a pinch… but can we agree that they all taste pretty much the same? If you are wanting to make some really FANCY hot chocolate with a ton of flavor and a sophisticated blend of spices, you should try my recipe for Christmas Spiced Hot Chocolate.
This chocolatey concoction is absolutely delicious, filled with tons of flavor all thanks to its unique mix of spices. In this recipe, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg and cardamom come together that comes together to create a mug of comfort.
Alright, get ready for the most gourmet and delicious hot chocolate you’ve ever tasted! Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups milk
- 2 Tbsp flour
- ⅓ Cup heavy cream
- ⅓ Cup cocoa powder
- ⅓ Cup sugar
- ½ Tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ Tsp ground ginger
- ¼ Tsp ground allspice
- ¼ Tsp ground nutmeg
- Pinch of cardamom
- Pinch of ground cloves
- 1 Tsp vanilla extract
- Whipped cream + cinnamon as a topping
Directions:
Add milk, heavy cream and flour to a small saucepan and heat over medium. Whisk vigorously.
Next, add the remaining ingredients. Stir thoroughly to combine and cook for about 7 minutes, or until hot chocolate has thickened and the spices have bloomed.
Pour into serving mugs and top off with whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkle.
Notes:
Looking for a healthier alternative? You may opt for using only milk instead of milk AND the heavy cream combo.
You may substitute the milk for a plant-based milk to make it more vegan and/or vegetarian-friendly. We have tested it with cashew milk and it was delicious!
