August 2019 VIP Crafters Club
Hey VIPs!! I’m so glad you’re here! I have put together some beautiful cut files for you this month that I know you will all love!
This month we are PAINTING… like Bob Ross style! Ok, now don’t worry – I have designed this project to be SUPER easy to create. In fact, I plan to have my 11 year old create one. Those of you who might be a little intimidated to pick up a paint brush: I guarantee you will be so surprised at what you can create if you’ll just get over any fears you might have! And don’t be afraid to mess up! Canvas is cheap. You can even practice on mixed media paper first if you want, but don’t forget that amazing things happen OUTSIDE of your comfort zone! As one of our members, Tina, said – you never know, you might discover that you have a Picasso or Monet waiting to come out!! Girl is right!! So let’s venture out and do some painting!
Also, we had so much fun making shadow boxes last month and it inspired so many of you to want to create even MORE shadow box designs! So I have included TWO new shadow box designs this month for you all as well! We have a beautiful beach scene and my own version of a sweet rainbow bridge inspired by the one our friend Alesia made (Rachel made one too!).
The details for the crafting party and the materials needed are below. Please let me know if you have any questions at all. I will also be updating this page throughout the month, as well as the Facebook page – and important updates will also be emailed to you.
Thank you so much for being here! I’m so excited for this month!

STEP-BY-STEP VIDEO TUTORIAL
If you’re like me, there’s a good chance you have a lot of these materials already lying around! I’ve outlined below what you’ll need to create this project with me. Not all of it is required, and I’ve listed which ones are optional below. Feel free to customize your project as you like – remember, this is your project! This list shows what I’ve used (or very similar items, since not everything can be found online). Looking forward to our Crafting Party!! (Note: this list contains affiliate links)
Blank art canvas – I used 9″ x 12″ but you can go bigger or smaller depending on your preference
(Note: If using stretched canvas, find a book or any hard surface that fits nicely inside the back areas.)
- Oramask 813 Stencil Film
- Transfer Tape
Glass/cup of water to clean your brushes
A rag to dry off your brushes
Hair dryer to aid in drying the paint faster (optional but recommended)
Cotton swabs (Q-Tip brand holds up really well)
Flat artist palette, paper plate or even wax paper (something to squeeze paint on and mix colors on, I recommend something disposable or easy to wash, and flat)
- Cardstock for paint guide (doesn’t matter what color, as this will be thrown away. Is only used as a guide)
Please note you’ll need a light grip cutting mat or else your paper will tear when you pull it off. Another tip here – use a small spatula or the edge of a ruler to help gently pull the cut pieces up off the cutting mat
